Welcome
A scientist turned photographer. I am passionate about the art of photography, about nature and representing life in all its forms. Spending more and more time observing other animals than humans while waiting for “The Photo” I have become much more appreciative of their behaviour, their emotions and consciousness (both emotions and consciousness have been verified scientifically in animals, even in the fruit fly!).
Emotions
I love when I manage to get a photo showing, especially the emotional moments, like the “lions in love” photo on this page. I am happy to photograph both people and animals in outdoor settings or in a studio.
Who am I...
I got my first camera when I was 6 years old and fighting for my life. My father thought it would take my mind of my sudden illness. I took B&W portraits with people's heads partly cut off!! But my love for photography did start from that early age.
Having lived, out of necessity in many countries (becoming a refugee after the occupation of Czechoslovakia by the Russians in 1968) and different cultures, my first love was to photograph people and their way of life. But then I became a scientist and work took over.
Now I can concentrate on photography again, and this time my main focus is on our four, six and eight legged friends. Being disabled, this does, on occasions, pose interesting problems. But the photo gets taken.
Fighting for Survival
Many animals are now fighting for survival, from the "common" sparrow to the rare white rhino. I try to show with my photos how like us, emotionally, our animal family are. To support animals in a small way 10% of any photo sale will go to a local donkey sanctuary ( Le Refuge des Grandes Oreilles).
From Beginnings to Now
My photography education includes a degree of Professional Photography from the New York school of Photography, as well as passing my licentiate with the Royal Society of Photography and my Craftsmanship with the Guild of Photographers.
Exposed and Published
I have won a number of photographic competitions and had a number of photographs exhibited in France and other countries (Germany, South Africa, Vietnam, Spain, Sweden, UK and others). A number of my photos have been published in various magazines (National Geographic Traveller Magazine, Digital Photographer and others as well books and photographic sites such as Shutterbug, digitalcameraworld.com and PetaPixel).

Can I Help?
My photos can be purchased. If you have something specific in mind please do not hesitate to contact me.
I am also running zoom-based workshop(s) via the Royal Society of Photography. https://portal.rps.org/s/event-listing
